Metavante Payment Progress Index
While a great deal of research from highly credible sources is available to the payments
industry, most data focuses on market size, growth rates and other key metrics, such as the
market share of specific payment types. Without a consolidated view of payment industry segments
that define the projected direction in which the industry segments are moving, managing and
interpreting this wealth of information can be daunting. Payment professionals have long been
in need of a single, universal metric that quantifies the broad situation of major segments
within the payments industry.
In response to this gap, VICOR, A Metavante Company, developed and introduced the payment
progress index in 2006 with a focus on the corporate payments (B2B) industry. The program,
originally titled CPPI, has been expanded and is now called the Metavante Payments Progress
Index (MPPI) program. The MPPI quantitatively tracks and measures the progress of payment
industry segments on an annual basis. The MPPI currently exists for 2 major segments, with
the 2007 edition focusing solely on healthcare payments:
MPPI, Corporate Payment Edition (2006)
MPPI, Healthcare Edition (2007)
The results of the MPPI, Healthcare Edition will be released in Q3 - 2007.
One Metric - Many Benefits By tracking data that quantifies both the current
position of payment industry segments as well as the future projection, the MPPI advances the
payments industry by helping financial institutions and technology providers develop services
and solutions that meet the changing needs of the marketplace.
Who will benefit?
- CFOs, Treasurers, Cash Managers, A/R and A/P Managers will gain a broad
perspective on the Payments function and understand how their situation and associated plans
compare to their peers.
- Financial Institutions will obtain a consolidated understanding and a
different perspective on the payments industry enabling them to better understand the needs
and plans of their customers and prospects.
- Technology & Solution Providers will be able to better focus product
development and deployment plans.
- Media & Analysts will gain a different perspective and a source
of content for articles and analysis.
