Image IVS
While Check 21 has created many opportunities, it has
also created an image integrity challenge for the payments
industry. Today, there is no industry-wide solution
which can certify and manage the validity and quality
of an image. Yet the need for banks to efficiently verify
the usability of images has never been more important
since exposure to risks such as liability, fraud, the
inability to recover Day 2 images, and compliance/privacy
issues have increased. VICOR’s Image IVS is an
industry-wide approach to image quality and usability
that focuses on problem prevention, not just detection,
and is image source independent.
There is tremendous overhead in performing thorough
and repetitive image usability analysis for check volumes
and other image-based applications of most banks. Many
banking applications – check image exchange, point
of capture validation, fraud detection, risk mitigation,
data mining, payee recognition, MICR encoding verification,
digital signature stamping, snippet routing, and compliance
reporting – can take advantage of a single IQA/IUA
solution to directly access and manage check images
and data in support of their image services. VICOR’s
Image IVS analyzes each image once to suit these many
purposes, thereby reducing the need to perform usability
analysis on large image volumes over and over again.
Utilizing a web-services oriented architecture, we
designed Image IVS to be multi-purpose, with highly
scalable parallel processing flexibility—for internal
lockbox and remittance processing applications, other
banking processes within the enterprises’ payments
infrastructure, for distributed corporate capture solutions,
and across the industry via a consortium of image exchange
partners. The solution requires minimal integration
and supports multiple capture devices.
VICOR’s Image IVS reengineers how images are
managed by replacing different and often disjointed
IQA systems and reducing system administration costs.
The application allows efficient image usability verification
across the payments enterprise with many benefits.

- Increases performance and results confidence
- Minimizes repetitive image analysis
- Leverages current legacy investments via distributed
architecture
- Supports industry-wide approach
- Provides public usability key for partners to certify
images once
- Generates new "payments intermediary" revenue streams
- Creates additional partnership opportunities across
the payments enterprise
