RIDS Remote Capture
RIDS Remote Capture module, an optional module of VICOR’s
Receivables Information Delivery System (RIDS) platform,
allows an organization to capture images of checks and
documents, if needed, in any location and distribute
them to a central location for further processing. The
module is designed for locations that could benefit
from capturing incoming payments closer to the originating
source in order to meet regional customer requirements
and float sensitivities. This means a processor’s
remote location can perform image capture or the processor’s
corporate customer can be provided the necessary hardware
to capture images in-house and deliver them to the bank
for further processing. Capture is done in color or
optional grayscale. Implementing Remote Capture is a
straightforward process since it requires only minimal
hardware and network connectivity. Because Remote Capture
images checks close to their originating source, faster
processing times and minimization of float result.
Remote Capture is especially beneficial in the evolving
Check 21 environment, which empowers emerging electronic
clearing mechanisms and distributed processing business
models. VICOR strategically designed RIDS to meet not
only the demands of today's paper check and invoice
environment but to also serve as a gateway to the electronic
payments enterprise. In this new arena, the RIDS unified,
flexible platform supports the "capture anywhere" scenario
and feeds image exchange networks and IRD or check truncation
systems as well as enterprise archives, while ensuring
image quality and usability. The end result is a new

The RIDS solution has evolved to provide valuable tools

at multiple production sites. For processors with a
national network, Remote Capture can be used as part
of a total solution that includes central server sites.
Remote Capture feeds into the central location where
keying can be done or sent to Remote
Keying sites such as another central site, a home
office location, or a domestic or offshore data entry
facility. More effective, efficient processing occurs
because a larger pool of resources is available and
simultaneous work can occur.
